Thanjavur Marathi is now more recognizable as Dakshini Marathi.
As most of you may know, Dakshin refers to South and we Marathis having settled in the South of India, this is an apt description for us.
When my father was around he would always say, we should have a name like Dakshini Marathi and not Thanjavur Marathi.
So next time anybody asks you if you are Marathi or what your language is, proudly state, yes we speak Dakshini Marathi

Hello Does anyone know if there are any marathi cooks for hire in Thanjavur. My father always invited them for family functions. If anyone is aware of any cooks kindly share the contact details Thank you in advance
